Haridwar is leading tourist destination in northen India. Haridwar city is the headquarters of Haridwar district. This city is an ancient pilgrimage and religious place of Hindus. The city is 141 km from Meerut, 81 km from Saharanpur, 494 km from Lucknow and 52 km from Dehradun. Haridwar city is a major market for wood obtained from the herbs and forest in western Uttar Pradesh. This city starts from State Highway No. 45 Delhi and ends at Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Rudki, Haridwar and goes to a place called Nitipas on the Indo-Tibet border.
The climate of Haridwar is almost similar to the plains of Uttar Pradesh, which is very healthy. In the months of May and June, there is severe heat. The temperature of the city varies between 1.3 to 41.1 degree centigrade. The average water surface depth in the city is 25x35 feet.
