Kausani – Kausani Tourism

Kausani, is a village in the Bageshwar district of Kumaon Mandal under Uttarakhand state of India in Gurung Tehsil. Kausani, India's beautiful mountain tourist destination, is located 53 kilometers north of Almora district of Uttarakhand state. It comes in Bageshwar district. Kausani stands on top of the beauty of the Himalayas of Pingnath. From here on the snow, the view of the mountain of Nanda Devi is very big. Situated between Kosi and Gomati rivers, Kausani is called Switzerland of India. Beautiful scenic views, sports and religious places attract tourists.

Major Tourist Sites in Kausani

Anashakti Ashram :- It is also called Gandhi Ashram. This Ashram was constructed with the intention of paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. Kausani's beauty and peace impressed Gandhiji very much. This is where he wrote an article called Anasakti Yoga. This ashram has a study room and library, prayer room (pictures related to the life of Gandhi ji here) and a small book store. Those who are here must take part in prayer gatherings here. This is not a tourist lodge. The snow-covered Himalayas can be seen from this ashram. From here Chaukhamba, Nilkanth, Nanda Ghanti, Trishul, Nanda Devi, Nanda kot and Panchachuli peaks are seen. Time of prayer: 5 a.m. and at 6 p.m. (7 a.m. in the summer).

Laxmi ashram :- This ashram is also famous as Sarala Ashram. Sarala ben established this ashram in 1948. Sarala ben's real name was Catherine Hillman and later he became a follower of Gandhiji. About 70 orphans and poor girls live here and study. These girls learn as well as grow vegetables, observe animals, cook cooking and other work. There is a workshop where these girls make sweaters, gloves, bags and small mats etc.

Pant museum :- Sumitranandan Pant, the famous poet of Hindi, was born in Kausani. The Pant Museum is dedicated to them only a short distance from the bus stand. The house in which he had lived his childhood, the same house has been converted into a museum. Here are items related to their daily life, collection of poems, letters, awards etc.

Kausani Tea Estate :- The best variety of Uttaranchal tea is grown in tea gardens spread over 208 hectares. These tea gardens are located near Kausani. Information about tea production can be obtained by visiting the gardens and visiting the tea factory. Tourists here do not forget to buy tea from here. Tea is exported to Germany, Australia, Korea and the United States.

How to reach Kausani

By Flight :- The nearest airport is the Pantnagar airport. You can easily get taxi or bus from the airport to reach Kausani which lies at the distance of 170 KM.

By Railway :- The nearest railway junction is Kathgodam, from where the bus or taxi can be reached by Kausani at the distance of 135 km.

By Roadway :- Buses run from Delhi's ISBT Anand Vihar bus stand for Kausani regularly. Other districts of the state can also be visited by bus to Kausani.

Route from Delhi : Ramnagar, NH-87, Rudrapur, Haldwani, Kathgodam, Ranibag, Bholwali, Khainr and Sualbari, along with National Highway 24, Gajrauli and Moradabad, Almora from State Highway, Almora and Someshwar.

Best time to visit Kausani?

You can visit Kausani by anytime throughout the year. But the best time to visit Kausani is during Summer season as per the visitors can get the pleasant view of the atmosphere during Summer.
